Common Gutter Questions in DFW

Do I need gutters on a house in Texas?

Yes. North Texas gets heavy, fast downpours, and the clay soil here swells and shrinks with moisture. Gutters move roof runoff away from your foundation, which helps prevent soil erosion, foundation movement, and water pooling around your slab.

The right size depends on your roof’s square footage and pitch. Most North Texas homes do well with 6-inch K-style gutters. A 6-inch gutter costs a little more than a standard 5-inch, but it carries more water and clogs less, which matters during heavy Texas storms. We install 6-inch seamless aluminum as our standard.

Seamless gutters are cut from one continuous piece of aluminum on site, so they have no joints along each run. Fewer joints means fewer leak points and less debris buildup. Sectional gutters cost less up front but tend to leak at the seams over time.

Aluminum is the most popular choice here. It resists rust, handles our temperature swings, and gives the best balance of cost and lifespan. Copper lasts longer but costs much more. Vinyl is the cheapest, but it can crack in Texas heat. We install seamless aluminum gutters as standard.

Cost depends on how many linear feet your home needs, how many stories and roof levels you have, your roof pitch, the material, and the number of downspouts. Most DFW homes have between 120 and 250 feet of gutters. If your fascia is rotted, that repair adds to the job. The fastest way to get a real number is a free on-site estimate.

Most homes take one to two days, depending on size, roof pitch, and how many downspouts you need. We give you a timeline with your quote.

Most DFW homes need cleaning at least twice a year, in late spring and late fall. Homes under heavy oak, pecan, or cedar elm cover often need it more often. If your gutters overflow during a storm, they are probably clogged.

Good gutter guards keep most leaves and debris out while letting water through, so you clean less and clog less. They are not fully maintenance-free, but on tree-heavy DFW lots they cut the work and lower the risk of storm-season overflows.
